Botswana Innovation Hub Gets Full IASP Membership
The Botswana Innovation Hub continues to make its mark in the technology space as witnessed by the milestones the organisation is garnering. Recently, the annual International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation (IASP) General Assembly has bestowed Botswana Innovation Hub with Full Membership status in recognition of the programmes Botswana Innovation Hub is currently running and progress in the construction of the park. The Full Membership was accepted by CEO Alan Boshwaen at the 31st IASP World Conference in Doha, Qatar on Wednesday, 22nd October, 2014.
IASP is a worldwide network of science parks and areas of innovation which connects professionals managing science, technology and research parks and other areas of innovation. IASP provides services that drive growth and effectiveness for its members.
“The full membership status raises Botswana Innovation Hubs profile amongst the approximately 400 high profile members from similar establishments across the world. As one of the leading Science and Technology Park (STP) establishments in Africa along with The Innovation Hub in South Africa and Abuja Technology Village in Nigeria, we were impressed by the status of facilities in Qatar and the high level of national development taking place in last 15 years in that country of less than 2 million people,” said Botswana Innovation Hub CEO Alan Boshwaen.
First Steps Venture Centre (FSVC) Programme Manager, Tshepo Tsheko made a very well-received presentation to delegates on the FSVC and how it serves a unique purpose. He was also interviewed by the Qatari media which had a keen interest in his presentation. The BIH delegation is back in Botswana.
