The Botswana Innovation Hub (BIH) is a PTY Limited Para-statal company registered with Registry of Companies, and our premises are under development at a strategic location in Gaborone and are to be a national center of excellence for innovation in key priority areas – being ICT, Mining Technology, Bio-Technology, and Energy/Environment. This is in line with the enhancement of Botswana’s international competitiveness and the prospects for economic diversification and downstream job creation.

BIH is located at a very Strategic Area 5.5KM aware from the Airport, Opposite the Diamond Trading Centre and Diamond Hub and 12 KM away from the University of Botswana, 7KM from Disease Control laborites, and 13 KM away from the Government enclave. Behind BIH, there is also Botswana Trade and Investment Centre Park (BTIC) which attracts manufacturing and financial investors.

Generally Botswana offers one of the best locations to do business in Africa, among many, she enjoyed peaceful democracy since independence from Britain in 1966 and   she is located in the center of key Southern African Nations sharing boarders with Namibia, South Africa, Zambia, and Zimbabwe which makes it a suitable regional trade hub with a market of more 270 million people. Furthermore, Botswana has no exchange controls-and has highest sovereign credit rating in Africa-relatively peaceful and low crime rate.

Science and Technology Parks have long been recognized as a proven tool to foster science and technology based business. Therefore based on a feasibility study and a recommendation of the Botswana Economic Advisory Council, Government of Botswana has decided to establish the Botswana Innovation Hub as one of the major efforts to diversify the economy and create more jobs and fulfill vision 2016. In the nutshell Botswana Innovation Hub is meant to provide and facilitate a conducive environment for Hi-Tech Knowledge Intensive businesses, and research which will ultimately be commercialized diversify economy hence create jobs.

The Plot at Block 8 in Gaborone extend to 57 hectares (ha), the equivalent of which the Icon Building which will be rented to tenants is 30, 000, 00 meter square and total land to be leased in 41 demarcated plots is 333, 380, 00 meter square. This land was allocated to BIH by Ministry of Lands and Housing as a lease land. Additional 36 hectares for spin-offs have been allocated but not yet serviced.

  • First you need to express your interest to register through filling and submitting signed Expression of Interest form and attaching your company profile, proof of company registration, proposal which outline your alignment to BIH National Mandate, Board Resolution to register with BIH, Financial Capability Proof and then submit to BIH Marketing and Registration Department;
  • BIH Registration Department will then open a file to begin registration engagement with your company, as well as present to Registration Committee and Board Ratification;
  • If approved by Internal Committees, Minister of Infrastructure Science and Technology will Issue a Registration Certificate which you can use to apply for your tax and labor dispensation incentives at BURS and Home Affairs.

Yes you can.

  • First you need to express your interest to rent through filling and submitting signed Expression of Interest form and attaching your company profile, proof of company registration, proposal which outline your alignment to BIH National Mandate, Board Resolution to register with BIH, Financial Capability Proof and then submit to BIH Marketing and Registration Department;
  • BIH Registration Department will then open a file to begin registration engagement with your company, as well as present to Registration Committee and Board Ratification;
  • If approved by Internal Committees, you will then have to sign a rental lease agreement with BIH Property division.

Yes, you can. And note that lease prices are subject to a valuation by a professional valuator and below depicts process to follow when requesting to lease;

  • First you need to express your interest to lease land within the park in order to build through filling and submitting signed Expression of Interest form and attaching your company profile, proof of company registration, proposal which outline your alignment to BIH National Mandate, Board Resolution to register with BIH, Financial Capability Proof and then submit to BIH Marketing and Registration Department;
  • BIH Registration Department will then open a file to begin registration engagement with your company, as well as present to Registration Committee and Board Ratification;
  • If approved by Internal Committees, you will then have to sign leasehold for developing land within the park with BIH Property Division.
