The Botswana Innovation Hub will provide businesses and research institutes with a world class business environment in the middle of the emerging sub-Saharan market. We welcome the technology-driven and knowledge-intensive businesses in the areas of ICT, mining technologies, sustainable energy and biotechnology. The invitation extends to research institutes and laboratories, as well as specialised post graduate training institutes.
Botswana is a country rich in minerals and sunshine offering opportunity for research and technology development, especially within the mining and energy sectors. Our greatest resource is the sun and this is an opportunity that could be leveraged for a cleaner environment.
The Country offers a stable and well-developed democracy, with a favourable investment and business environment with low corporate tax and no foreign exchange controls and full repatriation of profits allowed . Attractive incentives will also be offered for both foreign and local investors, such as flexibility in importing labour, a training grant, access to an Innovation Fund and the opportunity to negotiate a competitive telecommunications package.
Botswana Innovation Hub will offer high quality premises, telecommunications, business support and business development services to its tenants as well as support to entrepreneurs to develop and compete in the global market. All together this will create an innovating and synergetic, growth and development oriented community with a drive for new business.
Botswana Innovation Hub has started formal registration. However, companies are also invited to submit Expressions of Interest. Office and laboratory facilities will be ready for occupation by early 2011. The facilities will be offered on a first-come-first-served basis and I advise interested parties to contact Botswana Innovation Hub Office in Gaborone as soon as possible.
