The Botswana Innovation Hub (BIH) is a newly established company that is wholly owned by the Government of Botswana, whose mandate is to provide an attractive location for technology driven and knowledge intensive business to develop and compete in the global market. In this regards, the focal point of the Hub will be to provide state-of-the art facilities to attract domestic, regional and global companies to locate business and research and development activities within the Hub, and promote technology based innovation and entrepreneurship. It is anticipated that such development and innovation will lead to downstream job creation in manufacturing and services enterprise which emerge through technological innovation and entrepreneurship.
BIH will initially focus on four sectors or clusters, namely, Information and Communications Technology and ICT Enabled Services, Mining Related Technologies, Energy & Environment, and Biotechnology.
In order to become fully operational, the Company is currently seeking to recruit core staff for the following positions: Director Corporate Services, Director Facilities, Director marketing and Registration, Director Cluster Development, and business Analyst.

DIRECTOR CORPORATE SERVICES
Job Summary
To oversee the finance and accounting, coproate secretarial services, human resources and office administration, information technology and procurement functions of the Hub.
Main Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include the provision of financial and accounting services for the hub, and the co-ordination of all aspects of human resources. He/She will also be responsible for company secretarial and legal services, as well as procurement and logistics Furthermore the incumbent will be responsible for available and reliability of information technology services in the Hub.
Qualifications and Experience
To be considered for this role, you will need to be a holder of a business related degree. An ACCA qualification is a pre-requisite. Over 10 years post qualification expreinece, of which at least five will have been at a senior management level in a corporate services role. |

DIRECTOR FACILITIES
Job Summary
To develop and manage the physical infrastructure and premises of the Hub which aims to attract nurture and retain enterprises and start-ups in the targeted clusters. To plan, organise and co-ordinate properly maintenance and upkeep through out-sourced contracts.
Main Responsibilities
The Incumbent will be responsible for the development of the 57 hectare Park in a private sector setting. He/She will also be responsible for project appraisals, project management, property management and property sales. He/she will prepare and negotiate new leases and contracts with client and will also ensure the development and implementation of a cost effective and operationally achievable preventative and planned maintenance programme to optimise the useful life of fixed assets and ensure they are maintained in presentable state. In addition, the incumbent will ensure optimal utilisation of BIH land resources.
Qualifications and Experience
Estates management background at degree level with at least ten years post qualification experience in commercial estates management and development. In addition, candidates must be seasoned professionals with a demonstrable and successful track record in property development and management. |

DIRECTOR MARKETING AND REGISTRATION
Job Summary
Responsible for formulating and executing strategies and policies for the Marketing and Registration function, and drawing up strategies for local and international marketing and registration, as well as customer satisfaction services of the Hub. He will be involved in identifying key potential business tenants and attracting such investments from both overseas and locally into the Hub.
Main Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include the identification and engagement of potential companies for BIH, the evaluation and assessment of business plans, as well as marketing and communications. The incumbent will also be responsible for crating a positive image of the organisation as well as promoting BIH as a brand. He/she will devise initiatives for the attraction of local and Foreign Direct Investment (FDI)

The ideal candidate will possess an advanced degree in one of the core focal areas of the Hub (ie. ICT, Energy & Environment, Mining or Biotechnology) backed by over ten years post qualification experience, Candidates must have a strong marketing or entrepreneurial background. |

DIRECTOR CLUSTER DEVELOPMENT
Job Summary
To incubate technology and innovative start-up companies, create synergies among industry and academic sectors and provide advanced Laboratory support facilities for innovation and technology development. In this capacity he/she will work with government organisations non-profit organisations industry, associations and investment community groups to promote science, technology and innovation development in Botswana.
Main Responsibilities
Main responsibilities will include facilitating the development and growth of BIH clusters, with particular focus on science and technology innovation cluster development, international networking, sourcing founds, products and services commercialisation and intellectual property rights (e.g. patents and Intellectual Property Rights). He/she will develop incubation programmes and provide incubation management services to clients. The incumbent will also manage and oversee the BIH Innovation Fund.
Qualifications and Experience
Preferably a PhD in one of the fields relevant to BIH (ie. ICT, Energy & Environment, Mining or Biotechnology), and over ten years experience in research and development, Candidates must be seasoned innovation practitioners with demonstrable experience in networking with international institutions and agencies. |

BUSINESS ANALYST
Job Summary
To organise and manage the flow of information to and from the office of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and to provide research project coordination and preparation of reports and analysis capabilities to support the CEO and liaise with government (ministries, parastatals and government agencies) and private sector entities.
Main Responsibilities
The incumbent will be responsible for coordinating the flow of information both internally and externally, and liaise with government and other key shareholders. He/she will assist the CEO in strategy implementation (monitoring) and organisational performance monitoring, as well as in preparing and convening Board Meetings. In addition, he/she will collate information (trend analysis) and maintain databases.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills
A relevant degree in economics, finance or business would be preferable. An MBA would be an added advantage. Exposure to a business environment would be an advantage. The successful candidate will demonstrate very strong analytical and communication skills, with enhanced interpersonal relations competency and assertiveness. Excellent written communication skills are a pre-requisite for the position, as is the willingness to work at different intellectual levels.
