Mr. Mathiba Makolo

Mr. Mathiba Makolo is Director of Property & Facilities. Mathiba has a well cultivated knowledge of the construction industry having worked for various entities for the past 25 years. Mathiba joined Botswana Innovation Hub (Pty) Ltd from Nafprop in 2017. As Director – Property Development & Facilities Management he leads the division that is responsible for providing support to the innovation initiatives that enable technology driven entrepreneurship through the development and maintenance of world class physical infrastructure. This is done primarily through the development of Botswana’s first Science and Technology Park.

Mathiba’s career started at Botswana Defence Force (BDF) in 1993 where he commissioned best in military knowledge and was appointed Project Officer. He progressed through the ranks until he was promoted to the rank of Major and appointed Director – Construction and Infrastructure Development. In 2006 he left BDF and joined Debswana Diamond Company (Pty) Ltd as Contracts Administrator. As Contracts Administrator Mathiba put together contracts for Debswana and oversaw all the various stages of contracting through to contract close-out. In 2011 Mathiba left Debswana and joined Nafprop (Pty) Ltd, a managing agent of a public variable rate loan stock company listed on the Botswana Stock Exchange (BSE) as Projects Development Manager. He delivered various retail, industrial, and hospitality projects thus adding to the 64 properties occupied by 474 tenants with a market capitalization of P1.95 billion as valued at 31 July 2017.

Mathiba is a quantity surveyor by profession having graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg in 2002. He has worked in Botswana, South Africa, Namibia and Zambia. Mathiba is a member of Botswana Institute of Quantity Surveyors, South African Property Owners Association and South Africa Council of Shopping Centres.
